Wood, horn & stone
Wood is not the only natural material suitable for use in making eyeglasses. Designers know this, and the use of natural materials for glasses is very trendy. While wood alone is often used to great effect, combinations of wood and other materials open new creative doors.
Amazing Eyewear explores combinations of wood and horn, stone, and even gold.
Horn and wood: a 100% natural alliance
Natural, with a bit of luxury to boot! Sumptuous and highly nuanced, horn is a beautiful and timeless material that has been used in glasses for many years. In tandem with wood, the use of horn allows innumerable combinations of textures and colors.
At OriginEyes, the focus is on natural and earth-friendly materials. Designed by Damien Fourgeaud, the frames of the brand combine the beauty of wood with the unmatched comfort of horn. The result? The WoorN collection, made up of natural wood and horn glasses.

The Gold & Wood brand craftsman uses only the best materials. These high-end glasses skillfully combine precious materials like wood, horn and gold. The frames juxtapose luxury and nature for what is ultimately an elegant and timeless aesthetic.
Stone and wood, a surprising combination

For a look still as natural, but a little more unexpected, Rezin makes frames in wood and stone. Granite or slate comprise the fronts of the glasses, while the rest of the structure is made of wood. Simply polished and varnished to protect them from the vagaries of time and daily life, the stone is otherwise bare and gives the impression of brute force slightly attenuated by wood’s softness.
Rolf Spectacles, an Austrian brand specializing in wooden glasses, also offers some pairs that use combinations of wood and stone. His models, with their clear, fine lines, are of a subtler nature, which displays all the elegance of their materials.
