Wooden glasses’ hinges

Flexibility, adaptability and aesthetics—all of these are factors in the choice of hinges on a pair of glasses. The majority of wooden glasses are equipped with standard screw hinges, which have already proven themselves reliably functional. However, some brands are distinguished by their use of newer, more innovative types of hinges.

Nestled in the heart of Austria, ROLF Spectacles specializes in the manufacture of wooden glasses that are made in Tyrol, hinges and all. Thanks to an innovative and ingenious technology, the frames do not have to be cut to insert lenses. The hinges, without screws or metal, fold easily and adapt to all face shapes.

Koad uses a similar method. The brand is the first in France to offer wooden glasses with curved angles. The hinges are discreet, ultra-flexible and compatible with all facial structures.

To go even further, some brands have turned to wooden glasses without hinges at all. This is the case of W-Eye. With flexible and malleable branches, the frames adapt to the shape of your head without tightening on the temples and are not heavy on the bridge of the nose.

For its hinge system (or rather, lack thereof), French brand Mû makes glasses with wooden faces, into which are inserted flexible metal temples. The system is as reliable as it is aesthetically pleasing: the embedded branches are a recognizable of Mû glasses.
